Personal Best
Year-Long Personal Best (PB) Competition
The PB Competition is an optional year-long contest – participation is voluntary. The cost is $20 per category (Net and Gross). It applies to every tournament round at Santa Teresa during the calendar year (except those rounds whose format is Match Play).
Starting when you enter the contest, we will track the lowest score you make on each hole, over the course of the calendar year. The sum of the lowest score on each hole will be your PB score for the year.
There will be 3 Net flights and 3 Gross flights, according to the following conditions:
- Flight A: Indexes 9.9 and below
- Flight B: Indexes between 10.0 and 15.9, inclusive
- Flight C: Indexes 16.0 and above
- Flight A will play from the Black Tees
- Flight B & C have the option to play from the Black or Blue Tees
Determining a Player’s Flight
A player doesn’t change PBB flights, regardless of his index fluctuations during the year. To determine a player’s flight, we use his index which would be in force for the first monthly tournament following his entry into the PBB Competition. For example, if a player enters the PBB Competition on the morning of the February tournament, his index for the February tournament is used to determine his PBB flight regardless of whether he plays in the February tournament. If he enters the PBB Competition the day after the February tournament, his index for the March tournament is used to determine his PBB flight regardless of whether he plays in the March tournament.
Here’s how it works:
- One-time entry fee is $20 per category (Net and/or Gross).
- Net hole scores will be based on the course handicap effective the day of the tournament.
- When there are NCGA events with reduced handicaps, the full course handicap will be effect for that event for all players.
- We will post the results throughout the year, so you can see how your PB score ranks against the field.
- Prizes will be paid to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each flight group at 50%, 30%, and 20% respectively.
- For all ties money will be divided equally.
- Entry is not retroactive; ie we only count PB scores made after you enter the competition.
The earlier you sign up, the more rounds will count towards your PB.
